So far in this serious of studies, we have looked at how the mystery in the N.T. that Paul highlights is (after regeneration) the starting point for the believer’s walk with the Spirit of God in faith. There was and is the need to understand this mystery and why Paul was intent on preaching it, but also to see how living out of this mystery is the way in which we can have fullness of life in Christ. This unit of study picks up on that same theme with an example of Paul’s teaching which explicitly deals with the life of Christ within and how he used to labour in prayer for others until this life of Jesus was formed in them, as it was in Him. The particular verse is in Galations 4:19 which says. “My dear children, for whom I am again in the pains of childbirth until Christ is formed in you, - how I wish I could be with you now and change my tone, because I am perplexed about you!” Continue reading ‘Unit 4 Until Christ is formed in you Part 1’ »

This study is going to provide some of the teaching that Jesus himself gave on this matter, recorded in John 17 when Jesus prayed His High Priestly prayer, not that long before His crucifixion. The study will also provide mentions of other scriptures from Paul’s writings that affirm and confirm this fact that Jesus taught, that He Jesus is in the Father, that the Father is in Him, that Jesus lives in us and that in prospect of His prayer for the disciples, that they might live as one, just as the Father and Jesus were one. What did some old saints believe?
● Martin Luther (1483-1546) Monk, theologian, church reformer. He once said:
”It was God’s intention to have a race of Christ’s. Nothing less than this is true holiness and the Gospel in operation. Holiness stands for Christ in you, the fullness of the Holy Spirit, the baptism of the Spirit and identification with Christ in His death and resurrection.”
● C.T Studd (1850-1931) Famous Cricketer and Missionary to China and Africa
Studd prayed, “Lord, You know as well as I do what I want. I want to see Jesus running about in thousands of black bodies and purified hearts. In the Name of Jesus. Amen. Hallelujah!”
How does what Jesus, Paul, Luther and Studd said fit together in scripture and life?

The Christian life either never seems easy, or does not reach the heights expected by those that profess the faith. Those who weigh up their lives against the example of scripture suspect there is something missing from their lives. Christians all realize that Christ is the answer, but do not seem to know how to take full hold of the offering of the NT. Many churches struggle or fall away and many pastors do not know why. But there is an answer to these dilemmas. It has always been there. It is found in the books of the NT and in particular in the writings and experience of Paul. The answer is that God always intended that the life of Jesus Christ should be lived out in the life of every believer.
